How long does it take for a listing to sync?

Listings are usually synced within 15 minutes to an hour but may take up to 4 weeks to publish across all sources. Update processing typically takes 24-72 hours, but GPS directories might take up to 30 days, and Bing and Apple Maps might take even longer due to their data aggregation processes. Special rules and data cleansing can also extend sync times. Rest assured, the end result will be an accurate and fully synced business listing, ensuring your information is correctly represented across all platforms.

Why is a strong presence important for a local business like me?

A strong online presence is the first step toward success. Your customers and prospects need to be able to find you, both online and in the street. Ask yourself this, when was the last time you went out to eat at a new restaurant or planned to go see a new movie and did not look it up online first? Chances are, you did some research beforehand and it’s extremely likely that your customers are doing the same. When customers and prospects look you up online, make sure they can find you and that the information they come across is correct.

What is a Claimed Listing?

When a listing is marked as ‘claimed’, it indicates that someone (either the business owner or a service provider) has control over that listing, and as such, Listing Sync Pro cannot access it to make any updates.

Claimed listings are those that have been verified by the ‘owner’ of a business, either through a paid relationship with the listing site directly or through a third-party syncing service. By claiming your business listing(s), you can ensure that your business information—such as address, phone number, and hours of operation—leading to your business location is accurate.

The verifier alone is authorized to maintain its presence on the web.

Please note: Our Listing Sync Pro service cannot manage listings that are already claimed. If you’d prefer to manage all your claimed listings through Host.Support, the client or business owner would need to contact the listing site or service provider directly to ask them to ‘release’ those listings. Once this is done, Listing Sync Pro can take over managing those listings, and the syncing process will begin.

What business information does Listing Sync Pro update?

Do my clients still need to claim a Google account?

Listing Sync Pro does not automatically claim a business’s Google profile. Google requires the business to use the official Google Business Profile dashboard to claim a listing. The same requirement applies to the Google Business Profile integrations offered by other digital marketing vendors.

What does the "Category" column mean?

The category column shows the type of directory source. There are 6 available categories:

  • Directory: an online listing directory.
  • Map: sites that have an online map like MapQuest or Google Maps.
  • Social: social media networks like Facebook or Instagram.
  • Aggregator: publishers that push their listing information to other listing sources.
  • App: standalone applications like Snapchat that are not GPS services.
  • GPS: sources that power GPS applications like those found in cars.

What does the status "Synced" mean for Listings?

The “Status” column indicates the current stage of the syncing process for the listing source. When it displays “Synced,” it confirms that the listing source has communicated to our system that the business listing has been updated.

The “Accuracy Report” column represents our independent verification system, assessing the precision of the data. If it shows “Accurate,” it means the listing is live on the directory with complete data accuracy.

What does the "Accuracy Report" column mean?

The “Accuracy Report” column showcases our independent reporting system. When a listing source is added, our system pushes the Business Profile data to that listing directory. The listing directory then communicates back to our systems, letting us know that the data.

An “Accurate” status ensures there is a 100% match between the Business Profile data and the listing source. When Listings Sync Pro is activated, you should see a refreshed listing with up-to-date information. Should the listing need updating, simply hit the “Refresh listing” button to update.

What does the status "Submitted to Source" mean?

The “Status” column indicates the current stage of the syncing process for a listing source. If it shows “Submitted to source,” our system has promptly sent the Business Profile information to that directory. Each listing source has its own timeline for publishing data; we can confirm data submission, but publication timing is up to the listing source.

Different listing directories have varying update cycles. Allow 24-72 hours for an update to process before troubleshooting. GPS directories (e.g., Audi, BMW) may take up to 30 days, while Bing and Apple Maps might take longer due to data aggregation. Voice sources like Amazon Alexa and Siri, which are also submission-based, may require extra time to update on the live source.

How does Listing Sync Pro help prevent or remove duplicate listings?

Listing Sync Pro is designed to check for and suppress duplicate listings. Our system automatically searches for and eliminates duplicates. If you encounter a duplicate that we missed, please contact Host.Support. We will coordinate with the Listing Sync Pro service provider to have it removed. Additionally, we are working on adding a feature that will allow you to view the duplicates that have been removed.

Do my clients need to authenticate their listings for Listing Sync Pro to work?

With Listing Sync Pro, your clients aren’t required to authenticate their listings for any of the sites that are managed by the Listing Sync Pro service provider.

However, with Local SEO Standard (i.e. Facebook, Google Business Profile, and X), your clients must authenticate their accounts to sync their business info to those listings.

Can I stop or disable syncing for specific listings?

You can turn sync on/off for Google, Facebook, Instagram or X by clicking the sync button under each social site. From here click More > Turn off Syncing.

Please note that since Facebook and Instagram are closely linked, turning sync off for Facebook will also turn off Instagram.

If Listing Sync Pro is active, the syncing process will not stop until the billing cycle comes to an end, (even when the product has been canceled).

What is the difference between Listing Sync Pro and Yext Business Listings?

With Yext, will it create Yelp, Bing, and Yahoo listings if they don’t already exist?

All publishers should create new profiles, but with data aggregation, it is a blind submission, so it’s really up to the publisher if they create a listing but generally speaking they will.

How do I get listed in the Google Map-Pack

Getting your business to appear in the Google Map-Pack, also known as the Google 3-Pack or Local Pack, begins with claiming your Google Business Profile (GBP) listing. Ensure that you consistently provide Google with precise business information, such as your name, address, phone number (NAP), website URL, business hours, categories, and photos. It's important to manage customer review responses in a timely manner and maintain engaging local pages with embedded keywords, schema markups, and strong backlinks as part of a robust local SEO strategy. To begin with Keyword Tracking, go to Local SEO > Keyword Tracking.

Next, select ‘Add Keywords.’

For those using the Standard edition of Local SEO, you can add up to 3 keywords. Those with Local SEO Pro can add a total of 15 keywords. Click ‘Add Keywords’ to save your selections and start tracking. It may take 10-15 minutes for the results to populate after updating keywords.

Note: If you wish to purchase additional keywords, you can do so by activating the “Additional Keywords” add-on.

The Local Grid feature allows you to focus on individual hotspots, showing how your client’s business is ranking in specific geographic locations.

The map radius is set to a default of 1.25 miles. To change the map radius, click the settings gear icon and select from 1.25, 2.5, 5, or 10 miles, which is useful for larger cities.

Additionally, the Trend tab displays the progress of a particular keyword over time.

Google Business Profile:

  • Location Details: Business Name, Street Address, Zip/Postal Code, City, State, Phone Number, Website URL, Hours of Operation, and Special Hours. Note that street addresses and zip/postal codes are hidden for service area businesses.
  • Image Specifications:
    • Format: JPG, PNG
    • File Size: 10KB-5MB
    • Logo: Recommended resolution of 250x250px (minimum 120x120px; maximum 5200x5300px)
    • Primary Photo: Must have a 16:9 aspect ratio with a recommended resolution of 1080x608px (minimum 480x270px; maximum 2120x1192px). Ensure images are sharp, well-lit, and minimally altered.

Facebook:

  • Location information (with street address and zip/postal code hidden for service area businesses), phone number, website URL, hours of operation, and payment methods.
  • Logo: Setting a logo in your business profile will replace the existing profile picture.

X (formerly Twitter):

  • Location information (with street address and zip/postal code hidden for service area businesses), website URL, and a logo that will replace the existing profile picture.
  • Short description limited to 160 characters.

Instagram:

  • Includes street address, city, state, and zip code.

Bing:

How do I connect the right social account if I manage multiple social accounts?

Clients with multiple Facebook, Instagram, or X pages connected to the platform can now easily view and choose exactly which social page the data syncs to. Note: The Instagram source is controlled by the Facebook source selection, so there is no separate edit button for Instagram.

How do Multiple Social Connections work in Local SEO?

  • If clients have linked multiple social pages through the Business App or services like Reputation Management or Social Marketing, these accounts will be displayed in Local SEO.

  • On the Listing Sync tab within Local SEO, click on the desired source. A side panel will appear, allowing you to select which of the connected pages you want to sync. Simply select the ‘Sync to’ button to finalize your choice, and you are all set!

Why is it important for local business like me to have a mobile optimized listing?

For SEO, priority is given to good customer experience on mobile devices. Consumers will use mobile devices to find desired goods or services and will generally begin these searches with a category or brand search. For example, a brand search is “Joe’s Pizza in Denver” and a category search is “Pizza in Denver”. (Note: On a mobile device the “in Denver” often does not need to be explicit.) In the case of a category search, the user has intent to purchase something in a category but has not decided or does not care about the brand. In these searches, the user’s intent is generally heavily skewed toward proximity and location.
